I needed this because our cat likes to shoulder the door aside as she barrels into the room, chasing imaginary mice. The door then has enough momentum to open all the way and we have to get up to re-close it, again leaving it open just enough so she can come blasting through the opening on her second round of invisible mouse-pursuit.
The Antique Bronze looks nice mounted on a coffee-brown door. I think the stain can called it Walnut, probably.
There is a template included on the packaging with the three mounting holes indicated on the back, but really you just need to get the top one right in order to set the proper distance from the floor . Three bronze-colored self-tapping screws are included which blend in pretty well with the bronze finish.
I felt one thing was missing from the device as it ships: a bumper to mute the door stop-arm from banging against the release lever and in turn, banging against the mounting plate.
I solved this somewhat by sticking a 3M self-adhesive bumper disc over the top mounting screw (yellow arrow). This noise probably isn't going to bother anybody unless you read about it in an deerhardware review. (Doh!) But the fix is pretty simple. I think a little softer bumper-disc might work better (they make a grey foam one) but I had these handy.
Altogether, the door stop is easy to actuate by flipping it down and retracting it one-footed, and now the cat can't blast the door all the way open in her campaign to rid the world of her invisible rodents.
